About Us
Shaftesbury & District commenced in 1976, operating school transport contracts and a handful of bus services on local market days. It soon expanded into private coach hire and also offered vintage buses for hire.
It now operates a fleet of twelve buses and coaches, from 20 seater minibuses to 72 seat double-deckers, on a wide range of services in Dorset and Wiltshire.
School transport still predominates but private hire is an important part of the business including continental travel, for which a toilet-equipped Volvo B10M has been purchased.
A number of local bus services is operated for which a free timetable is available on request. Last but not least, we operate two former London "vintage" double deckers for private hire and special occasions including weddings. One is a 72 seat "Routemaster" and the other a 56 seat, fifty year old "RT" type. The latest acquisition is a fifty year old 39 seat London "RF" single-decker. It is fully restored and available for hire, reaching those places the double-deckers cannot reach!
